Today saw Tewkesbury U12s play the ninth match of the season at home to Old Richians.
This is always a tough and quite even fixture and today was to be no different.
As it was a hot sunny morning we decided to play the game over four 15 minute quarters to give the boys chance for drink breaks.
The first quarter was very even with both sides playing good rugby. Tewkesbury’s back look good when the ball was played through the hands and made some good ground.
The second quarter was dominated by Old Richians through the the rucks and scrums which paid off with them scoring a a try to level the games.
In the third quarter Old Richian carried on where they had finished and through some powerful forward play scored a second to take the lead. However Tewkesbury dug deep and scored again through the forwards to level the game.
In the final quarter Tewkesbury started to play the ball through the hands and were rewarded from retaining the ball through multiple phases with two tries.
Tewkesbury won again making it 8 out of 9 games this season and unbeaten at home.
Final Score was : Tewkesbury 28 – Old Richians 14
We are proud of all the boys at Tewkesbury on another great performance. Well done boys.

Today saw Tewkesbury U12s play the eighth match of the season at home to Stroud.
The moats is now definately a stronghold as Tewkesbury won again making it 7 out of 8 games this season.
The start of the match saw two side playing strong running rugby with Tewkesbury scoring, then Stroud, then Tewkesbury then Stroud. After that Tewkesbury started to dominate play and scored four tries without return. This obviously stirred something in Stroud who came back strong scoring four more tries of their own. This brought the score to 42 – 42.
Tewkesbury held strong scoring two more tries to win.
Final Score was : Tewkesbury 56 – Stroud 42
We are proud of all the boys at Tewkesbury on another great performance. Well done boys.

Tewkesbury tigers welcomed there great rivals Longlevens to the moats as a re-arranged match due to the Longlevens pitches being under water .
Tewkesbury decided to play four quarters of 10 minutes to give each one of their squads a rest and time to reflect on their previous outing .
Tewkesbury Tigers 0 – 10 Longlevens (1st qtr)
Tewkesbury tigers started there encounter with their b squad and captain for the day Miles Rendell won the toss and decided to kick off. From the off Tewkesbury ran at the Longlevens team with a sense of pride and passion. This shocked Longlevens who to be honest where used to having their own way against our b’s. The game was quite even for four minutes until Longlevens managed to win their own ball and ship it wide, this time though Tewkesbury missed a tackle and Longlevens opened the scoring. From the off Tewkesbury ran and mauled and rucked Longlevens around the pitch but Longlevens held firm. Longlevens had the upper hand in the scrums and as the game went on used this to build a good platform to score in the closing minutes and finish the quarter 10 – 0 up.
Tewkesbury Tigers 10 – 0 Longlevens (2nd qtr)
Longlevens started this quarter with a spring in there step only for Tewkesbury tigers a team to knock that out of them from the off. With some big hits and great driving and rucking Tewkesbury slowly got the upper hand on the Longlevens boys and once Tewkesbury had started to play as a team more and less of the individuals they started has they made inroads into the Longlevens defence . This created a gap for Henry Evetts to find a gap and go over to make it 5-0 . From the restart Tewkesbury got right up into the Longlevens faces and started to force them back, but fair plays to Longlevens who challenged and tackled well but Tewkesbury were ferocious around the break down area and well disciplined this paid off as once again Henry Evetts found a gap to squeeze over to finish off the quarter 10-0 . A big wow goes out to Sean Collins for the tackle of the game which made the crowd go wow and oooooooh !!!!!!
Tewkesbury Tigers 0 – 15 Longlevens (3rd qtr)
Tewkesbury tigers started this quarter and wanted to build on there first quarter , which to be honest they did , with Miles Rendell ripping the ball well with his brother Mason in support they made some good breaks and with Dan Vine and Wiiliam Healley tackling well they challenged Longlevens well but as time went on and Longlevens drawing the Tewkesbury players into the mauls, gaps started to appear and Longlevens took full advantage to run in three tries before the quarter was over .
Tewkesbury Tigers 15 – 0 Longlevens (4th qtr)
Longlevens started the final quarter three tries up and where in no mood to lose it , but Tewkesbury where in no mood to let Longlevens win , game on !!! . From the off both sets off players competed well against each other but Tewkesbury eventually wore Longlevens down and drove them down the field only for Charlie Kendrick to rip the ball and dive over the line to open the scoring. From the off Tewkesbury repelled the Longlevens team and with big Joe Goodridge bullocking his way down to pitch and Sam Williams and Sean Collins running some great lines under the instructions from Charlie Kendrick Tewkesbury made gaps appear , the ever present Ellis Todd shipped the ball out to Charlie Kendrick who ran a dummy move and popped it to Brendan Llewelyn to round his opposite number to score Tewkesbury’s second . Again from the off Longlevens where driven back by the Tewkesbury forwards . The ball shipped out wide Longlevens defending well Tewkesbury recycled the ball, big Joe on the ball a sniff of the line , just stopped short , Charlie Kendrick at the base of the ruck as the Tewkesbury players drove over a pick and go try scored and a tied game . Well done to Tyler Martin , Jack Cordell , Jorja Taylor great game had by all.
All the kids mentioned or not played very well today and can hold their heads up high well done .
Also I’d like to thank Longlevens who gave us a great game as always and played the game in the usual great spirit thanks.

Tewkesbury tigers hosted a large looking Newent side today at The Moats after a wet start to the second half of the season. This was there chance to start building towards there county cup finals day challenge and for the other kids to step up and show off their talents to the coaches.
Tewkesbury Siberians 10 vs 5 Newent
Tewkesbury lost the toss and Newent opted to kick off, from the off Newent set out there stall and showed there intent has they sent in there big guys. Tewkesbury scrambled well and drove them back but time after time Newent came at them, but with some great attacking from both sides and great defence at the same time both teams competed well , but as time went on Newent got the upper hand and shipped the ball out wide to score the opening try . This how ever gave Tewkesbury a new focus and from the off started to pressure the Newent players only for Miles Rendell to grab the ball and find a gap to go over and equalise . The rest of the half saw both teams put 100% in, credit to the Tewkesbury players who now started to go at the Newent team with loads of aggression.
Second half saw both sides compete well but time after time the Tewkesbury players put their bodies on the line and drive Newent back, Newent on the other hand thou throw themselves at Tewkesbury to stop them going over for several tries. With time running out Newent where driven over their own try line only for Joe to rip the ball and drop to his knees and score the winner. Well done to all the players but the stand out kids were Dan Vine who tackled well, Harvey Maycock who drove over the ball great and carried brill Sam Carter, William Healley, Miles Rendell, Mason Rendell and Alexander who ran and passed the ball. Well done to all!
Tewkesbury Bengals 40 vs 0 Newent
Tewkesbury Bengals had just watched their team mates play out of their skins and scrape a win, time to shine and show Newent what they could do. From the off Tewkesbury went at Newent giving them no time to settle and show them that this was their turf. Great driving with some good ripping saw the ball in big Joe Goodridge’s hands and off he went on one off his juganaught runs to score the opening try. Newent started and again Tewkesbury drove them back via Sam Williams and Sean Collins only for Ellis to rip the ball and pop it to Charlie Kendrick and with a show and go beat the first defender to look out wide for his speedster Brendon Lewellyn who then out paced every one to score the second try, again Newent sent in the big guns from the restart and once again Tewkesbury stood solid, this time Ellis Todd popped the ball to Charlie Kendrick and he went down the blind side a show and go, a dummy another dummy then just pace straight and true, try scored . Next Sam Williams got hold of the ball off the ever present Charlie Kendrick to cut back against the Newent defence another try scored, Tewkesbury where now in full flow next up was Ellis Todd to get into the act and add his name to the score sheet, the forwards drove over the ball only for Ellis to grab his chance a pick up from the base a duck and a dive saw a gap open, try scored again and the end of the first half.
Tewkesbury started and from the off drove in hard ball won shipped out wide good quick hands Sean Collins on the ball a missed tackle or two and over he went for a great try, Newent where now on the back foot and flagging, from the off they shipped the ball around but only for Tewkesbury to time after time tackle them and drive them back, ball won passed down the line Brendon Llewellyn on the ball a side step a shimmy, the Newent player showed him the outside and Brendon took it try scored and that ended the match early 8 tries scored. All the Bengals played well and showed great spirit and team work well done.
I’d also like to say Newent were a great side and showed some good play, they stuck at it well and could have scored in the second game if they’d not come across a Tewkesbury team in great form and all fired up. Well done and thank you .

The moats is now a stronghold as Tewkesbury won again making it 6 out of 7 games this season.

However Evesham never gave up and managed to cross the Tewkesbury line for a score.
The second 20 mins showed a resurgence from Evesham with some strong defence, scrummaging and rucking. Both Tewkesbury and Evesham scored 2 tries a piece.
