St Mary’s v Tewkesbury

The girls had a good game today against St Mary,s at their home ground.

Tewkesbury were quick out of the block and scored 2 quick tries.

Tackles were much improved from st Mary’s , but tewkesbury supported quickly at the breakdown resulting in possession. We ran in a total of 6 tries  in the first half.

St Mary’s made a great break from their 22 and sprinted at an amazing pace leaving all but Chloe Seers standing. Chloe made a great tackle just before our try line but great supporting run and a calm offload resulted in st Mary’s first try.

Half time score was 5 – 34 to Tewkesbury.

The second half was a much improved Mary’s side But Tewkesbury ran in another  3 tries.

Chloe Seers scored a hat trick of tries ( tewkesburys second of the season, Rebecca Woodward being first to achieve this on our home fixture against st Mary’s)

Second Half score was 5 – 15 to Tewkesbury.

Well done to all girls today you all showed courage and determination and team spirit.

Final score 10 – 49 to Tewkesbury

Tewkesbury U10 v Evesham – 27th Nov

Tewkesbury played some really good rugby against Evesham on a sunny but windy Sunday morning. Tewkesbury put in an excellent performance in the scrummage against a larger pack (in the second game) once again driving Evesham off the ball on many occasions.  The rucking was strong and Tewkesbury were able to rip the ball away from the Evesham in the mauls. Evesham never gave up, for which they should be applauded, coming back strong in the first game with two tries. Excellent performance by Tewkesbury who will be glad of the training session next week to  fix some of the mistakes that are being made in defence. Well done boys we are very proud of the attitude you show each week.

Tewkesbury U10 v Stroud – 20th Nov 2011

Tewkesbury were beaten in both matches by a strong running Stroud side with excellent passing ability. Tewkesbury never gave up and put in an excellent performance in the scrummage against a larger pack driving Stroud off the ball on many occasions.  Stroud had a stronger squad throughout and their rucking proved too much for Tewkesbury who lost a number of players to injury. We wish Jane and the Stroud team all the best for the rest of the season.

Game 1 :

Tewkesbury 5
Stroud 40

Game 2:

Tewkesbury 5
Stroud 55

U10s vs Cinderford

Tewkesbury were beaten in both matches by a well drilled and excellent Cinderford side. However Tewkesbury never gave up and put in an excellent defensive performance, even though the score suggests otherwise. Tewkesbury stopped Cinderford from crossing the line on many occasions. Tewkesbury scrummaged well driving Cinderford off the ball winning many scrums against the head.   Cinderford were too strong for Tewkesbury and look to repeat the excellent season they had last year.

Cinderford 45

Game 2:

Cinderford 40
