Sunday 30th September 2012

Tewkesbury Tigers 71 Old Richians 12

Tewkesbury Tigers, you used your skills to overcome Old Richians. J Letherby deservedly awarded Man of Match. Opportunities were taken and trys were scored, job done brilliantly. Next game is against Painswick; your skills are yours, keep using them to play exciting rugby.

T Johansen, Coach

The team played well, forwards  and backs played skilful and constructive rugby which proved that when we work as a team we play as a team and this allowed us to dominate the game.

Tewkesbury U11s vs Berry Hill U11s – 30th September 2012

Tewkesbury 41 – Berry Hill 36

Tewkesbury played some really good rugby against a large and strong Berry Hill side on a dry but cloudy Sunday morning. Berry Hill got off to a better start scoring three tries without reply through some very strong forward play. Tewkesbury scored from the restart when B.Roberts caught the bouncing ball and scored with O.Osbourne converting. Tewkesbury rallied from there and started to move the ball around which saw some of our faster players (E.Perry, W.Sayers, T.Leggett, N.Knight(2)) run in tries of which two were converted. The game was a close encounter in which Berry Hill never gave up scoring a number of times, again, through strong forward play. The battle continued, score 36 – 36, right up till the last few minutes when a kick over the Hill defence into the in-goal area, by S.Thomas, saw N.Knight chase it and score the winning try.

Well done boys we are very proud of the attitude and determination to ensure the start of the season see our U11s make it played one won one against a strong Berry Hill outfit.

We also hope the two Berry Hill players who were injured have a speedy recovery.

Trys : B.Roberts, E.Perry,  W.Sayers, T.Leggett, N.Knight (3)

Under 9’s sponsor

Tewkesbury Tigers under 9’s have started the 2012/13 season with a new sponsor, Genharts Precision Engineers of Cheltenham, owner Frank Cliford has provided the children with socks, shorts, gloves, tracksuit bottoms and a shirt each. The age group has grown from last year and now has 22 members in the squad, which could still grow over the next few weeks.

They train each Sunday morning from 10:30 am till 12pm at The Moats, home of the senior Tewkesbury teams. This seasons training has started really well as this is the 1st season the children have done full contact, they all seem very keen to get involved and cant wait to play their 1st game, which is in a couple of weeks against Old Richians. This will be a good test as Old Richians are usually a well drilled team, so hopefully the children will do well and enjoy themselves. Enjoyment is the main aim of the age group, with a focus on fair play, discipline and team spirit.

All children of any experience are welcome, of your child is interested in playing, either pop along on a Sunday morning and see one of the coaches.
