U14’s V Worcester

Tewkesbury 29 Worcester 2nds 10

A very wet cold Sunday morning, saw Tewkesbury Tigers playing skill full rugby to overcome Worcester, by the end of the game every player deserved to be man of the match,
My thanks and admiration to the Worcester Coach  who’s team said if we are playing in our rugby strip you can coach us wearing your rugby shirt and shorts as well, and he did, by this time we were all wet and cold.
A big thankyou to all the players for hanging in there when the going was tough

U9’s v Bream

WE CAME, WE SAW, WE CONQUERED. TEWKESBURY TRAVELLED AWAY TO PLAY BREAM WITH A LITTLE NERVOUSNESS AS THIS WAS THE TEAM THAT PUT US TO THE SWORD THE LAST TIME WE PLAYED EACH OTHER (BIG TIME) . BUT A MUCH CHANGED TEWKESBURY SIDE TOOK TO THE FIELD WITH MUCH MORE AGGRESSION AND A LOT MORE ATTITUDE TO THERE GAME. TEWKESBURY WON THE TOSS AND CAPTAIN CHARLIE KENDRICK DECIDED TO CHANGE ENDS. BREAM FROM KICK OFF FELT THE TEWKESBURY RAFF AS TEWKESBURY MADE BIG HITS ON ANY PLAYER WITH THE BALL AND COMPETED FOR ANY LOOSE BALL ON THE GROUND THIS UNSETTLED BREAM IN A BIG WAY. TEWKESBURY RAN IN TWO TRIES BEFORE HALF TIME. THE 2ND HALF SAW TEWKESBURY PILE ON THE PRESSURE AND TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF BREAM AS THEY STARTED TO CRUMBLE ( THEY WHERE LIKE SHARKS SMELLING BLOOD IN THE WATER) TEWKESBURY RAN IN 4 MORE TRIES TO MAKE THE FULL TIME SCORE 30-0 TO TEWKESBURY.

THE SECOND GAME SAW TEWKESBURY GIVE BREAM 2 OF THERE BETTER PLAYERS AS THEY LOST PLAYERS TO THE WEATHER AND THE HARSHNESS AND AGGRESSION OF TEWKESBURY’S GAME PLAY. THIS WAS AN EVEN CONTEST AS BOTH TEAMS SUFFERED TO THE CONDITIONS AND THE GAME ENDED 10-10. ALL TRIES SCORED BY TEWKESBURY PLAYERS ( BREAMS BY CHARLIE KENDRICK) , ALL PLAYERS STEPPED UP TO THE CHALLENGE AND SHOWED GREAT HARDNESS AND MATURITY , WELL DONE TO HARVEY MAYCOCK AND CHARLIE KENDRICK ON GETTING THERE FIRST TRIES OF THE SEASON.

Old Richians v Tewkesbury – 21st October 2012

Old Richians 38 – Tewkesbury 42

We found ourselves playing on a cold and foggy morning at Old Richians with both teams knowing this would be a good game as history has proven over the last few years.

Once again Tewkesbury started poorly  with Old Richians showing the way scoring three unanswered tries in the 9th, 11th and 17th minutes respectively. All three tries were converted. Tewkesbury rallied a little and scored through N.Knight after an excellent solo run by E.Perry.  Tewkesbury missed the conversion. The game then yo-yo’d with Richians scoring  again and converting after a number of missed tackles by Tewkesbury.  O. Osbourne then scored and converted for Tewkesbury.

The second half showed a different and resilient Tewkesbury side who after conceding a 5th and 6th try to Old Richians came back into the game strongly with N. Knight scoring and S.Thomas converting and S.Thomas scoring and B.Roberts converting. We then saw S.Thomas kick over the Richains defence with N.Knight robbing the ball off the catcher and passing to O.Osbourne who ran in his second try of the game and N.Knight converted. From the kick off Tewkesbury took the ball forward and after three amazing dummies J.Brinn scored to bring the try count to 6 all. The conversion was missed.

An excellent committed game by both teams. Well done all.

Tewkesbury vs Fairford 14th October 2012

Fairford  5 – Tewkesbury 7

This game was part of a three way set of games against Stow and Fairford.

Tewkesbury were hit in the morning with the loss of five players due to illness and injuries and came to Stow with the bare minimum of 12 players with quite a few playing out of position.

This game really was one of two halves. Fairford applied pressure on Tewkesbury right from the start and scored early after 2 minutes but missed the conversion. They then dominated play for most of the first half.

After  half time Tewkesbury woke up and after a strong period of maintaining possession scored through N.Knight and converted through T.Legget.

This was a close game  with both sides showing some great skills at times and good flowing running rugby.

Try :  N.Knight

Conversion :  T.Leggett

Team :  N.Knight, J. Brinn, W.Alonso, A.Newing, T.Leggett,  C.Janes, S.Thomas, C. Stone, J. Carter, O. Osbourne, E.Perry,  W.Sayers

M.O.M. – E.Perry
