Widden Old Boys 16 v 19 Tewkesbury RFC
Playing down the slope at the Memorial Ground, Widden opened the scoring with a penalty. Tewkesbury fought back and soon equalled the score with a penalty converted by Anthony Richards. A Further penalty from each side saw neither team gain advantage in this seesaw battle before half time.
Soon into the 2nd half Widden were reduced to 14 players from a yellow card but scored an unconverted try 11-6.
Tewkesbury hit back with good interlinking play between forwards and back which sent Dan Gombera in for a try converted by Richards.
Tewkesbury's lead was stretched to 11-16 following a penalty for a high tackle converted by Richards.
During added time and in fading light Widden scored an unconverted try to level the score, only to give away a penalty almost immediately from kick off, converted by Richards giving Tewkesbury's youthful side a 16-19 win.
Anthony Richard's 100% goal kicking performance was the difference between the two sides in this hard fought encounter.
Tewkesbury entertain Bishopston RFC at the Moats next Saturday 17/12/2012 who are just below them in the league table.
